The Colombian Pacific Coast

The Pacific coast on the Colombian department of Chocó, is a privileged region for tourism due to its land and seascape variety, almost untouched natural places and the quality of its native people. The Humbolt current provides a huge constant fishing potential throughout the year, which includes Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Snapper, Grouper, Jack, Mackerel, Tuna, and all kind of coral reef fishes. It is very common to see schools of dolphins jumping and playing near the coast or around the boats. And during the months of July, August and September you can be part of the spectacular whale season. Each year humpback whales come to mate and give birth in this specific area of Colombia. The underwater seascape presents great fauna diversity, superior to that usually found in any Caribbean region. There is a big difference in the water level between high and low tides (10 feet and even more!). This phenomenon allows to find extense beaches, sometimes reaching thousands of feet in both length and width, with impressive rock formations and beautiful natural aquariums.El paisaje submarino presenta una gran variedad en su fauna, muy superior a la usualmente encontrada en cualquier zona del caribe.

Weather is unpredictable due to the interaction between the rain forest and the close mountains (Serranía del Baudó). A torrid sun can alternate with brief but heavy storms and overcast days are not the exception in this zone. Coming down from the jungle, hundreds of small rivers and crystalline creeks reach the ocean. Their abundance creates lots of beautiful waterfalls and natural pools where visitors can enjoy relaxing moments. The Colombian rain forest in Chocó is considered one of the richest, ecologically speaking, in the world. It is available to everybody to be visited, loved and protected as a natural sanctuary.
